Who we are...
- The Owners -
a husband & wife team
Hi! We are Allen and Samantha Giesting, the owners and operators of Dunlap Supply!
Allen GiestingYou may know Allen from Giesting Lawn Care, another company located in beautiful Batesville, IN. (Visit that website by clicking HERE) But Allen has always had a love for woodworking, a knack for construction, and a drive to complete large scale projects. After building his own home in 2012, he felt his calling was more than mowing grass. So in the summer of 2020, he set off to build one of his dreams - owning and operating a hardware store and lumberyard. When Allen is not busy with his two businesses, he can be found spending time with his wife, Samantha, and their four beautiful daughters: Emmy, Calla, Heidi, and Avie.

Samantha GiestingSamantha is a very designed oriented and detailed perfectionist. After high school, she went to college and became a teacher. She taught at North Decatur High School for five years and St. Louis Catholic School for two as a Literature, Reading, and Speech teacher for grades 6-12. (She taught every grade level she could except 9th grade.) Her heart, however, was always in the designing process. She designed her own home in 2012 and then her parents home in 2015. She found not only beauty, but also teachable design and construction techniques in the tearing down of her parent's old home (built in 1851) in 2015. She loves reclaimed wood, simplicity, and functionality. When she isn't at the hardware store, she is spending time with her family.

Our Story...
Allen Giesting never set out to be a business owner. And neither did his wife, Samantha. Both were born and raised on dairy farms in Batesville, IN. Allen worked on his parent's farm until they sold the dairy cows in April of 2007, and Samantha helped sometimes too on her parent's farm until they sold the dairy cows in October of 2010. While in high school, Allen was Vice President and President of the FFA and Samantha was the Historian; both saw the power and beauty in agriculture and the potential business opportunities that come about when a little know-how and a lot of hard work are coupled together. To say the least, Allen was intrigued by the business world, but not interested in sitting still. Samantha was somewhat interested in business, but loved English and writing and being creative. In 2005, nearing the end of their freshmen year of high school, Allen took his little Cub Cadet mower and started mowing for neighbors. And Giesting Lawn Care was born. When the recession hit in 2008, he was still in school, but had more business than he could keep up with as the housing market was up in the air. He hired working class men who were down on their luck and looking for work to come and work for him while he stayed in school. After graduating Batesville High School school in 2009, Giesting Lawn Care really took off all the while Samantha went to Franklin College graduating with honors in two degrees: Education (grades 6 -12) and English. In August of 2012 GLC bought out Weed Wacker Mowing by Cheryl Webber, acquiring not only more yards, but more help and more equipment too. Michael Riehle joined the team then and became Allen's right hand man. Giesting Lawn Care grew each and every year from 2005 to 2020. Allen and Samantha took on some big projects in 2012 and designed and built their own home. They were married a couple months after it was completed in 2013. In the following years, Allen expanded GLC, Samantha taught English in all the grades she could (expect for 9th grade), and they started a family. In 2020, Allen had an idea to buy Dunlap Building Materials of Batesville, Inc. Though the first part of 2020 was chaotic - both personally and globally - a deal was finally made and new ownership of the now Dunlap Supply (We will always be Dunlaps) took place on July 1, 2020. Allen and Samantha (no longer a classroom teacher) own and operate this store and the lawn care company together. When they are not busy with the businesses, they are busy being mom and dad to their four beautiful daughters: Emmy, Calla, Heidi, and Avie.
