Allen Giesting, owner of Dunlap Supply, grew up working on his family’s dairy farm outside of Oldenburg, where he learned the value of early mornings, honest work, and taking care of what matters. In high school, Allen served as Vice President and then President of the Batesville FFA chapter, deepening his love for agriculture and leadership. After graduation, he built and ran a successful lawn care business for 18 years before taking on a new challenge: purchasing Dunlap Supply in July of 2020 (Yep, right in the midst of a global pandemic!) Since then, he’s poured his energy into keeping the legacy of this historic lumberyard not only alive, but thriving. Allen is a wealth of knowledge, possesses a never failing can do/will do positive attitude, and is always an “outside of the box” thinker. He led the charge on our new siding, signage, and window renovation project last year and is looking forward to start Phase II of the project later this year. A fun fact about Allen is he collects nativity scenes. If you swing by the store, you will see his favorite dozen on display behind him - and he keeps them up all year long. When he’s not at the store, Allen is home on the cattle and grain farm he shares with his wife, Samantha, and their four daughters. His roots run deep in hard work, small-town values, and a love for serving his community.

She loves to talk to them and listen to the stories that they have. A fun fact about Diane is she and her husband, Steve, worked here together for over 25 years! Diane said that there were too many good memories to pick her favorite. While not working at the store, Diane enjoys spending time with her five grandkids.

Samantha Giesting is the heart behind the scenes at the store, bringing creativity and organization to the business. Samantha has a background in English and 6-12 Education (a former North Decatur High School English and Speech Teacher and a former St. Louis Catholic School Literature Teacher). Her duties outside of being our chief CAD home and remodel designer include running payroll, filing and paying taxes, paying vendor bills, everything HR, processing credit apps, and tech support. She loves to honor the store’s history and is the schedule keeper - keeping all things running smoothly for our people. She is known for her thoughtful (and meticulously wrapped) Christmas gifts to all the employees and for her love of writing. When she is not at the store, she is home on the family farm with her husband Allen (the owner of Dunlaps) and their four little girls.

At the heart of our business is a mighty team of employees and friends who show up every day with grit, kindness, and a shared love for this community. We are more than just coworkers—we're your neighbors, volunteers in the local schools and sports teams, and familiar faces who’ve become a true staple in the lives of the people we serve. Whether it’s lending a hand on a project, offering expert advice, or just sharing a smile at the counter, our team helps keep our small town strong, connected, and proud. Second to none!
